The Washington County Sheriff's Office confirms a 17-year-old will be charged as an adult and is facing attempted murder charges for a shooting incident Wednesday night in Cascade.
CASCADE, Md. - The Washington County Sheriff's Office confirms a 17-year-old will be charged as an adult and is facing attempted murder charges, including three, attempted first-degree murder charges, for a shooting incident Wednesday night in Cascade.

Matthew Hasty allegedly fired shots in the area of Fort Richie Access Road and Buena Vista Road around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

A victim told authorities he was driving with two kids in the backseat when Hasty fired a shot into his car. Fortunately no one was injured in the incident.

Deputies were on the scene shortly thereafter and set up a perimeter as they searched for the man responsible for the shooting.

Viewers from the American Legion in Cascade and others in the area say they were on lock down. Officials say the search for Hasty took nearly two hours and Maryland State Police and the Special Response team assisted on the scene.

The Washington County Sheriff's office continues to investigate the case. Hasty was taken to central booking.
