Accelerant Detection K-9 Team Graduates

FRONT ROYAL, Va. - The Office of the State Fire Marshal announced Friday the addition of a third Accelerant Detection Canine Team. 

In a graduation held Friday at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Canine Training School in Front Royal, Va., Deputy State Fire Marshal Jeffrey Thomas and K-9 Billie received their certificate of completion from the school after finishing a six week rigorous training course. 

Eight other teams from various states shared in the graduation ceremony as well. 

Police say DSFM Thomas and K-9 Billie will operate throughout the state and be based out of the Upper Shore Regional Office of the State Fire Marshal. They say the Accelerant K-9 Division is instrumental at fire incident scenes throughout Maryland.
