WHAG NEWS - Federal agents and army investigators continue to search for answers at Fort Hood, after a solider opened fire Wednesday afternoon killing three, and injuring 16 people before apparently turning his gun on himself.

Officials say the solider was an Iraq war veteran who suffered from mental health issues. The attack marks the latest mass shooting at the post since a 2009 massacre, that left 13 people dead.

NBC News identified the deceased gunman as 34-year-old enlisted Army solider Ivan Lopez. Military officials had declined to identify him Wednesday night, pending notification of family members. Military officials say the shooter was stopped after coming across a female military police officer, which led to the gunman turnin the gun on himself.

Officials say there's no evidence the shooting was terrorism related, and gunman's motive remains unknown. The names of the victims have not been released, although officials have confirmed with NBC News that all are military personnel.
