WINTER STORM WARNING in effect for Western Maryland and Western Grant, Mineral and Garrett counties until 7 PM Sunday.
WIND CHILL ADVISORY in effect for Western Grant, Mineral, Allegany and Garrett counties until 7-10 AM Sunday
WIND ADVISORY in effect for the majority of the area until 7 AM Sunday with gusts up to 50 mph.
Tonight: Snow showers will continue until midnight as a disturbance passes through. An additional coating to and inch is possible before it tapers off around midnight. Temperatures will quickly drop through the 20s and then the teens overnight. This may create some icy spots on the roads. Winds will range between 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph at times. Wind chills will be near 0 to -10 at times in Western Maryland. The snow will continue in Western Maryland with blowing and drifting snow. An additional 2-3 inches is possible there overnight. Travel is not advised in these areas.
Sunday: Expect partly sunny skies, but very windy and cold conditions. Highs won't get out of the upper 20s and low 30s. Wind chills will be in the teens and even below zero in the mountains. Winds could gust up to 40 mph at times. Snow showers will continue into western Maryland with an additional inch or two possible before the snow begins to taper off by afternoon. Expect 6-12"+ total accumulation by evening in the upslope areas of Western Maryland.
Monday: The winds will relax and the sunshine will return as high pressure moves in. Highs will rebound back to near 40 degrees.
Tuesday: On Valetine's Day, clouds will dominate with the chance of a light wintry mix of rain or snow possible. Highs around 40.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy with a high of 46.
Thursday: Clouds will increase with the chance of rain showers later in the day. A bit milder with a high of 48.
Friday: A mix of sunshine and clouds. High: 46.
Saturday: Right now it looks mostly sunny with high pressure building in. High: 40.
