WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY in effect until 7 PM

WINTER STORM WARNING in effect for western Maryland and western Grant, Mineral and Garrett counties until 7 PM Sunday.

Today: Expect cloudy skies this morning with some snow showers. Western Maryland will see snow throughout the entire day with amounts up to 2-4 inches. An Arctic cold front and low pressure will move through this afternoon bringing more snow showers or a snow squall between noon and 5 pm. This will likely reduce visibilities for a short time and drop an additional coating to an inch of snow on the ground in most areas. Expect total snowfall accumulations over the region to range between 1-3 inches. Winds will howl out of the north and west as the front passes up to 40 mph at times. This will drop wind chills into the teens and single digits this afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid 30s.

Tonight: Snow showers will continue until midnight as the front moves east. Temperatures will quickly drop through the 20s and then the teens overnight. This may create some icy spots on the roads. Winds will range between 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph at times. Wind chills will be near 0 to below 0 at times. The snow will continue in western Maryland with blowing and drifting snow. Another 2-4 inches is possible there.

Sunday: Expect partly sunny skies, but very windy and cold conditions. Highs won't get out of the upper 20s and low 30s. Wind chills will be in the teens and even below zero in the mountains. Winds could gust up to 30 mph at times. Snow showers will continue into western Maryland with an additional 1-2" possible.

Monday: The winds will relax and the sunshine will return with highs rebounding back to near 40 degrees.

Tuesday: On Valetine's Day, clouds will dominate with the chance of a light wintry mix of rain or snow possible. Highs near 40.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy with a high of 46.

Thursday: A mix of sun and clouds. A bit milder with a high of 48.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of a few showers. High: 48.
