Berkeley County Sheriff's Dept. Donates Cruiser

Donated by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department, the cruiser is going to the City of Gary Police Department, whose only police car was inoperable.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Know that feeling when you're getting a new car? Chief Sherman McKinney does.

"We were able to obtain this car, it's fully equipped, all we gotta do is slide a radio in it and start working," said McKinney.

Donated by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department, the cruiser is going to the City of Gary Police Department.

Law officials expect this high end four-wheeler to dramatically boost their ability to serve the public, especially considering the city's only police car was inoperable.

"Our car was damaged by vandals and had mechanical problems and the replacement cost was just far above what we could budget," said McKinney.

"To help someone else out it just means the world to me and everyone involved in this," said Scott Richmond of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.

The City of Gary will use the cruiser for daily patrols and law enforcement needs.
