Weather Synopsis: After showers and thunderstorms on Thursday, we’re enjoying some dry weather for today, and it looks like that will continue into Saturday as well.  Beyond that, we will be getting back into an active period of weather into the first half of next week.

High pressure will continue to have control of the forecast for tomorrow, then we will watch a warm front lift north through the area on Sunday bringing more heat and more humidity, and those chances for showers and thunderstorms. Then, as a cold front moves towards the area on Tuesday, we will keep the chances for showers and thunderstorms around. With the instability that is forecast from Sunday through Tuesday, we could see the chance of a few gusty thunderstorms on Sunday, then better chances for severe weather across the area come on Monday, and then again before the front moves through on Tuesday.  The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has placed the region in an area targeted for severe thunderstorms on Monday, with damaging winds, hail and heavy rainfall being the primary threat with any storm that does develop.

Once the front moves through the area we are going to see some unseasonably cool air move into the region for the end of next week, but that will also give us at least a few dry days in the forecast before we start to warm things up a little more before we get into next weekend.

I’m taking a few days off next week on Monday and Tuesday, but I will be tracking any severe weather that does develop as we get into early next week! See you tonight on WHAG News at 7:00 and 11:00 PM!
