Weather Synopsis: After a nice weekend with sunshine and some clouds, we’ve got an active period on the way for about the next 36 hours before some much drier and less humid weather moves into the region for the latter portions of the week.

The clouds are expected to thicken up tonight as a warm front moves north through the region. As this does, we will continue with the chances for rain showers through the night tonight and into the overnight hours. As we look ahead to Tuesday, as a cold front moves through the area, we will bring in the chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has placed the region in a Slight Risk for severe weather for Tuesday Afternoon and evening.  Damaging winds and hail along with heavy rainfall will be the primary threats, but an isolated tornado can not be ruled out as well, although I think the risk of that is very low.

Once the front moves through the region on Tuesday Night, we will bring in some sunshine for Wednesday, but conditions will be breezy as well, as high pressure moves into the region.  The sunshine will continue through the weekend and into the early portions of next week, with no other active weather in sight.

Stay weather aware as we get into the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday. We’ll keep you ahead of the storms.
