Snow Squall: This morning's snow squall that caused the 44 car pile up on Interstate 81 in Berkeley County, West Virginia, and the accident on Interstate 70 in Washington County near Clear Spring, was the result of something that the models can not pick up on. We had very cold temperatures in the middle to upper layers of the atmosphere this morning, along with our strong northwesterly winds this morning, helped to create these snow streamers or snow squalls. As we experienced, these snow squalls can drop some heavy snow in a short amount of time, and drop visibilities to near zero.

Weather Synopsis: After this morning's snow squalls, we are looking for the winds to subside tonight, and as high pressure builds into the forecast, Thursday will bring warmer temperatures before more precipitation arrives for Friday. As we look ahead to the weekend, we will see 2 areas of low pressure build into the area, bringing the chance of showers for Friday as well as Saturday, then drier weather and even warmer temperatures are in the forecast as we get into early next week.

I’ll see you tonight on WHAG News at 7:00 and 11:00 with all the details!  Have a great evening!
