Weather Synopsis: High temperatures this afternoon we’re back into the 90’s once again, and it felt every bit that warm, if not warmer, with heat index values going into the mid to upper 90’s and in some places, above the 100 degree mark!  All of this comes with a price, and that is showers and thunderstorms this evening, as well as overnight tonight.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has placed the entire region in a SLIGHT RISK for severe thunderstorms through the overnight hours tonight. Damaging winds, hail and heavy rainfall are our primary threats through the overnight hours tonight, and this could come in 2 waves. The first wave being this afternoon and evening, as showers and thunderstorms develop in the heat and humidity prior to the cold front moving through the area, and the second wave would be overnight tonight along and ahead of the cold front. The models are anticipating a line of thunderstorms that could do wind damage along and ahead of the cold front.

Once this front moves through the area, looks like we’re going to keep the active weather around through the weekend and into the beginning of next week. A frontal boundary will stall out across the region, and will bring us continued chances for showers and thunderstorms through the weekend and into the early portions of next week.

Stay WEATHER AWARE as we get into the afternoon and evening today, as well as the overnight, as well as keep an eye on your local creeks and streams, as well as rivers through the weekend.

I’ll see you on WHAG News at 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM tonight.
