Weather Synopsis: It really feels like summer across the area today with showers and thunderstorms anticipated through the evening hours tonight.

Some of those thunderstorms could produce damaging winds or what we call “wet microbursts” because of the amount of rainfall these thunderstorms will be producing tonight.  These storms, as aforementioned, could produce heavy rainfall as there will be no real driving force to push these thunderstorms, so localized flash flooding will be an issue through the evening hours tonight.  Keeping our Heavy Rainfall at a High Threat Level through tonight, and Damaging Winds at a Moderate Threat Level through tonight.

The cause for these showers and thunderstorms is the warm and humid air mass, but that will chance as we have a cold front pass through the region tonight into early Thursday will clear us out, but no real big temperature turn. Thursday will be dry, and then as we get into Friday Night, we will see the front that moves through the area tonight, retreat back north through the region, bringing a renewed chance of showers and thunderstorms through next week. With the thunderstorms next week, they will be what’s called diurnally driven, which means they develop with the daytime heating and once we get past sunset, those thunderstorms will dissipate.

I’ll see you on WHAG News at 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM tonight and then on WHAG News at 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00 PM on Thursday.
