The Nittany Lions will play a Central Florida team ranked just outside the top 25.
The Knights landed 26th in the AP preseason poll.
Penn State received five votes.
On the field, it's a bounce back year for tight end Kyle Carter.
The junior battled through injuries in 2013, failing to match the production of his freshman season.
Carter now is 100 percent and ready to provide a versatile target for Christian Hackenberg.
“Yea, I feel fine. And I can't use that as an excuse for last year either. I mean, when the plays were on the table, I had to make it. And some of them I didn't come up with. I can't really blame injuries for how I played last year. But I'm feeling fine now. And I'm just going to go out there and do what I can do,” Carter says.
