People living in Wishard, Cresspond, Kemps Mill at the KOA and Independence Road at Route 40 could be affected, and should consider leaving the area.
More than 30 residents were displaced, and are currently staying in hotels or with families. Some are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Residents have been advised to stay clear of affected streets, like Mulberry Street and parts of Cumberland Street. They will be closed until later Friday evening.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says road closures will depend on the weather on Friday night. Broadfording Road is now open. There's a shelter open for those who need it: The Red Cross has modified the shelter location in Clear Spring.
If people are in need of shelter, food and/or additional information, they should go to Clear Spring High School located at 12630 Broadfording Road.
