County Approves CRS Site Plans

The Washington County Planning Commission approved the new site plans for the Community Rescue Service trying to build a new substation in Maugensville Monday evening.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Washington County Planning Commission approved the new site plans for the Community Rescue Service trying to build a new substation in Maugensville Monday evening.

"I believe they're sharing a facility in Maugensville now with fire department I believe. So this would be a stand alone facility for the rescue service itself," said Terry Irwin, Deputy Director for Plan Review and Permitting.

There was some opposition from a property owner who believed his hotel was zoned too close to new the proposed site.

County attorneys said the plan is in compliance with zoning ordinances and the commission has decided to move ahead with the project with a 5-0 vote.

CRS could break ground on this new property in Maugensville as early as this fall.

"Essentially now they just need to get a building permit application submitted so we can review their building plans," said Irwin.
