On Saturday afternoon, the Ag Heritage Center hosted a Japanese landscaping and bonsai workshop for garden-lovers.
It was a multi-sensory workshop, aimed to teach participants how to create a positve environment.
Whether it is on a windowsill, balcony or in a yard, professional gardeners say filling empty space with Asian landscaping can bring beauty and calmness in a garden.
"There are things we can incorporate; the symbolism, the simplicity, the idea of reducing the scale and having something of year-round interest," says Sylvia Areme, volunteer master gardener.
Master gardeners are community volunteers who support Penn State Cooperate Extension's educational programs in consumer horticulture.
