Downtown Building to Come Alive as New Arts Center

Located at 15 West Patrick Street across from the Weinburg Center for the Arts, the 15 Square Project is aimed to host performances, arts education and much more.

FREDERICK, Md. - On the inside, it's a building under construction with big plans for the future.

"This building has gone through some renovations and will continue more renovations," said Joyce Heptner of the Ausherman Family Foundation.

But in time the plan is to bring the building in Downtown Frederick alive as a multi-purpose arts center.

"So the facility will be very flexible and we're looking to allow other community groups to use it for which ever reasons they may see fit," explains Heptner.

Located at 15 West Patrick Street across from the Weinburg Center for the Arts, the 15 Square Project is aimed to host performances, arts education and much more.

"The space could be used as an educational facility for the performing arts, and for new technology in the arts," said Heptner.

The trustees of the Ausherman Family Foundation are excited about this opportunity to expand the already vibrant arts community in Frederick

"Looking forward to the development of a partnership with the Weinburg Center which is the sister theater across the street," said Heptner.

This project, which is being funded on $1.5 million from the Ausherman Family Foundation, has 12,000 square feet on the main floor in addition to 9,000 square feet in the basement.
