FRANKLIN COUNTY, PA. - Fire officials are investigating the cause of a large house fire in Washington Township Friday afternoon.

A neighbor called in the fire around 12:41 p.m. along 15052 Honodel Road. When crews arrived, flames were shooting through the roof.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire.
They tell WHAG their dog was killed in the fire, and they're still looking for their cat. The house is reported to be a total loss. The homeowners would not talk on camera, but said they're in shock and that they've lost everything.

According to dispatch, the roadway is currently shut down. One injury was reported, but the person was treated on scene.

Multiple fire departments from Franklin County and Washington County, Maryland remain on the scene. Washington Township Police are also on scene investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters said the wind certainly made the fire spread faster, and there was nothing they could do to save the structure. They said they just made sure it didn't spread to the woods.

About 65 firefighters responded to the scene, and it took crews about 25 minutes to put out the blaze.
