FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - A Frederick County man is facing charges after he performed maintenance service on non-water based fire extinguishing systems at four locations in Frederick, according to the Deputy State Fire Marshal.

Investigators said Christopher W. Frederick, 32, serviced the systems at Modern Asia, Lazy Fish, Sumittra Thai Cuisine, and Creative Colours without proper licensing issued through the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Frederick is licensed to perform portable extinguisher service in the State under his company, Frederick Safe House Fire Protection, officials said.

However, he does not currently hold a license to perform installation, service and maintenance on non-water based systems found in ventilation hoods of commercial kitchens, paint booths and computer rooms.

Frederick was served a criminal summons at his residence Wednesday. He is charged with violation of public safety regulations and acting as a contractor without license. If convicted, Frederick faces nearly six months imprisonment and/or $2,000 in fines, officials say.
