Frederick Police Arrest Arson Suspect

Jeffery Lynn Jones, 58, of Frederick, Maryland was arrested by Frederick City Police for intentionally setting a car on fire Friday evening.
FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick Police responded to Phebus Avenue at Degrange Street on Friday around 7:38 p.m. for a vehicle fire.

The incident was immediately determined to be an arson investigation. The suspect has been identified as Jeffery Lynn Jones, 58, of Frederick, Maryland. Jones used a Molotov cocktail to set the victim's car on fire which was parked on Phebus Avenue.

The fire was put out by Frederick Police officers and the car had minor damage. Throughout the investigation, police found out Jones was acquainted with the victim, and this was not a random event.

Jones was arrested and transported to Frederick County Central Booking without incident. This investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Corporal Petruzzello at (301) 600-4110.

Jones has been charged with one count of arson second degree, one count of malicious burning first degree, and one count of arson theft.
