Hagerstown Celebrates Arbor Day by Planting Trees

"It is very fun and it is a great experience for me because this is the first time I have been out here, and I am very honored to be out here and yeah it is just going to be a great time," said Seamus Murray, student.

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - In celebration of Arbor Day, students in Washington County became one with nature.

Students from Bester Elementary and St. Mary's Catholic School planted trees at Fairgrounds Park to commemorate Arbor Day.

The students learned about the importance of trees and were able to contribute to their environment.

They were joined by high school students and Councilman Martin Brubaker. They planted more than five trees.

"It is very fun and it is a great experience for me because this is the first time I have been out here, and I am very honored to be out here and yeah it is just going to be a great time," said Seamus Murray, student.

Officials with the City say they hope the children will come back to check up on their trees in the future.
