Hagerstown Man Arrested for Robbery

The Hagerstown Police Department arrested a local man after they said he threatened two people and robbed them in the City.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - The Hagerstown Police Department arrested a local man after they said he threatened two people and robbed them in the City. 

Officers took Lewis Samuel Smith 3rd, 24, of Hagerstown, Md., into custody, charging him with robbery and theft less than $100. 

The incident happened at 2:47 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 in the first block of Fairground Avenue in Hagerstown. 

When officers arrived on the scene, they located two men who advised they were robbed by an unknown man. The victims said they were walking to the Sheetz convenience store when they were approached by a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. 

The victims told police the man stated he had a gun, and told the two to give him their money. The victim's complied and gave him their money. The suspect then fled the area. No one was hurt during the incident. 

Officers were able to locate Smith based on information gathered from the victims. He matched their description and was positively identified by both of them.
