Man Arrested for Holding Woman and Children Hostage

"It was a domestic situation. I'm not entirely sure what their relationship status currently is, but they did know each other," said Watson.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. - A Cross Junction man is behind bars after allegedly abducting a woman and her two children, holding them hostage at the George Washington Hotel Saturday night.

Authorities say they were called to the 100 block of South Loudoun Street in reference to a fight that they believed involved Lawrence Geisler.

Upon arriving to the scene, they were immediately directed to the third floor of the hotel, where Geisler had been spotted with a gun.

"The hotel guest said he went back into his room, and came back out, and allegedly pointed what looked like an assault rifle at him. That's when we were called to the scene,” said Captain Douglas Watson of the Winchester Police Department.

At the hotel room, they discovered the hostage situation, and Geisler's airsoft rifle.

"Once our officers responded to the scene, they locked down that particular floor of the hotel, and evacuated specific rooms above and below,” Watson said.

He was taken into custody, and charged with domestic assault, abduction and brandishing a firearm.

"It was a domestic situation. I'm not entirely sure what their relationship status currently is, but they did know each other," said Watson.

The case is still under investigation.
