Man Arrested in Frederick Stabbing

FREDERICK, Md. - Officers with the Frederick City Police Department arrested a 20-year-old man in connection to a stabbing that sent one person to the hospital. 

The incident happened on Dec. 8, 2013 on the 100 block of N. Market Street. 

Officers say the victim was heavily bleeding from his abdomen. He was taken to Baltimore Shock Trauma and required emergency surgery to treat his injuries. They say he was later released after further treatment. 

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned the stabbing happened after two groups of men got into a confrontation on the sidewalk nearby.

With the help of surveillance video and tips from the community, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Ryan Michael Small, 20, of Frederick. On Jan. 31, 2014 a warrant for Small was issued. 

Small is charged with first and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He's currently being held on a $300,000 bond.
