Man Charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder of his Uncle

Officials with the Frederick Police Department arrested a man for attempted second degree murder.
FREDERICK, Md. – Officials with the Frederick Police Department arrested a man for attempted second degree murder.

They say they were called to the 400 block of Arwell Ct. for a stabbing around 6 p.m. on Thursday. The officers found a man bleeding heavily inside a home.

Officials say he was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious, potentially life- threatening injuries.

They say the found the suspect, identified as Jose Reyes, 19, hiding inside the home, and arrested him. Investigators discovered Reyes is the nephew of the victim, and a verbal altercation occurred at Reyes’ residence, then a physical assault occurred.

They say Reyes grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the abdomen and leg.

Officials say the victim underwent surgery and his status was listed as critical but stable.

Reyes was charged with attempted second degree murder, first degree assault, and second degree assault.
