Man Pleads Not Guilty in Boonsboro Stabbings

Thomas Hungerford Jr. pleaded not guilty in Washington County District Court on Monday in connection to first-degree murder charges.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - The Boonsboro man charged with first-degree murder after stabbing two people last Thursday pleaded not guilty in Washington County District Court on Monday.

Thomas Hungerford Jr. was placed in custody on Friday, and is currently being held without bond.

As we've reported, the stabbings took place on the 200 block of Saint Paul Street. One woman, Tylena Ann Sigler, died from her wounds. The male victim, Gerald Wayne Hurd, 52, of Hagerstown, Md., is in serious but stable condition at Baltimore Shock Trauma.

Deputies say it appears this incident all stemmed from a domestic dispute.

"A district court judge will review the matter to see if there is a probable cause, and if probable cause is found the state will then follow up by filing criminal information in the circuit court," said Joseph Michael, deputy states attorney for Washington County.

Hungerford is scheduled to appear in court on March 4, 2014 for a preliminary hearing.
