Man Stabbed By Girlfriend

Devonte Morel, 21, of Hagerstown, was stabbed twice near the chest by his girlfriend, Shauntika, Morel, 18, of Hagerstown.
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Officers with the Hagerstown Police Department responded to a stabbing Saturday around 3:30 p.m. on 727 Medway Road.

When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim, Devonte Morel, 21, of Hagerstown suffering from two stab wounds. Morel was transported to Meritus Medical Center for  treatment and was eventually transferred to Shock Trauma due to the severity of his injuries.

Further investigation revelealed approximately one hour before Morel was stabbed, he got into a dispute with his girlfriend, Shauntika Chandler, 18, of Hagerstown. The dispute later turned physical and Chandler stabbed Morel.

Chandler was taken into custdy and charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment, and weapons violation.
