Martinsburg Man Sentenced for Allegedly Faking Cancer

A Martinsburg man was sentenced Monday in Berkeley County for allegedly accepting donations after lying about having cancer.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A Martinsburg man was sentenced Monday in Berkeley County for allegedly accepting donations after lying about having terminal cancer.

Steven Mohn was sentenced to serve four months in jail and five years of probation.

The Berkeley County Circuit Court also ordered Mohn to complete 250 hours of community service and pay restitution of $1,496 to businesses that donated to his charity event.

Mohn entered a no contest plea to one count of attempted felony fraudulent scheme. He also pleaded guilty to one count of delivery of oxycodone.
