FREDERICK COUNTY, MD - After a year of waiting and squeezing into a smaller temporary location, the Brunswick library is now open.

At least 100 people, including public officials came out for the ribbon cutting Saturday morning. The new building is on the same site as the previous building at 915 North Maple Avenue.

The branch manager, Amy Whitney, says the space is six times bigger than the old building and has capabilities like wireless connectivity.

"People do a lot of online applications for employment now and many people who don't have a computer at home can come here to get that service," says Whitney.

Many parents at the grand opening brought their children. Some children were as young as a few months and parents like Lauren Fitch of Brunswick, say it's important to expose children to the library at an early age.

"We will come for story times which is held on Mondays," says Fitch. "That will have him interact with other kids because I am a stay at home mom," she says.

The branch is scheduled to be open five days a week and closed on Fridays and Sundays.

The branch number is 301-600-7250.
