FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - A Pennsylvania man is dead following a serious motorcycle accident early Monday morning along Rt. 15.

Maryland State Police said the two-vehicle crash happened at 5:08 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2014 on southbound Rt. 15 at North Franklinville Road in Thurmont.

Troopers said a preliminary investigation on scene revealed that a 2006 International trash truck driven by Richard Cuther Beard, 62, of Thurmont, Md., was traveling from North Franklinville Road across the southbound lanes of Rt. 15, when a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by James Bertram Boehner, 55, of Orrtanna, Pa., struck the rear driver's side of the trash truck.

According to state police, Boehner was pronounced dead on scene at 5:16 a.m. by Thurmont Ambulance Company. They said Beard was not injured in the crash.

TFC B. Thomas, the ACI on scene, said it did not appear that alcohol or speed were a factor in the collision.

Beard advised to state police that he did not see the motorcycle traveling southbound on Rt. 15 when he pulled from North Franklinville Road, across Rt. 15.
