FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - The real estate website Movoto.com recently named Frederick County, Maryland in one of its top ten lists. The county was able to snag the title among nearly 650 other counties.

The City of Frederick received national attention when it made CNN’s America Best Small Town list, and now Frederick County, Maryland is being distinguished for being one of the best counties in American to live in.

Coming in at number nine on the “These Are The 10 Best Counties in America,” list on Movoto.com, Frederick County residents said they know why.

“I've lived in Frederick for 27 years now, since I was born, and it's special because it's a very beautiful area. It's great people, environment and great food,” said David Stambaugh, resident.

“I feel like it’s tucked away in the mountains, so it's just a nice peaceful community we love,” said Becky Asable who lives in Middletown, Maryland.

Noa Petke said she simply likes the food in Frederick County.

Hundreds of counties across the country were evaluated, based on high school graduation rate and median home price, among other categories.

“We competed against 640 counties based on some criteria of unemployment, poverty level, median household incomes and things of that nature,” said Blaine Young, President of the Frederick County Board of Commissioners. “Our education system ranks number one in Maryland, and Maryland ranks number one in the nation, so we like to say we've got the number one education system in America.”

As of April 2014, Frederick County had an unemployment rate of 4.5 percent, well below both the state and national numbers.

In Maryland, Montgomery County also made the list, coming in at number eight and Loudoun County, Virginia came in at number one.
