FREDERICK, Md. - A
“On child abuse in the first degree, which is child abuse resulting in death. She [the judge] imposed a sentence of 30 years suspending all but 20 of that, which means she'll actively serve 20 years,” explained Thomas Degonia, Tramonte’s Attorney.
In court, the state prosecutor said reports confirmed the 3-month-old baby boy died of blunt force injuries. Officials also said the baby had three fractured ribs.
The sentencing comes after the woman entered an Alford plea back in March.
“Neither admitting nor denying the facts. The state puts on the facts they believe they can prove. The judge accepted those facts and found Tramonte guilty,” said Degonia.
Dagonia asked the judge to recognize the woman’s potential to rehab.
“The state hospital, Perkins, completed a 34 page evaluation of Tramonte and her mental health status and I think that weighed heavenly in both her favor and the judges decision and the sentence she imposed,” said Degonia.
Tramonte has already served more than 490 days behind bars and she will be given credit for the time served.
