HAMPSHIRE COUNTY, W.Va. - West Virginia State Police are investigating an accident that claimed the life of one person Tuesday evening along Rt. 28 near Springfield.

The single vehicle crash happened around 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 along the northbound side of Route 28.

Troopers say the investigation revealed that Debbie Saul, 64, of Baker, W.Va., and her husband, Larry Saul, 65, were traveling north on the roadway in their 2000 Ford F-150 during slippery road conditions. Witnesses told police the road conditions were wet after a rain storm came through the area.

Police say Mrs. Saul was negotiating a left hand curve when she lost control of the vehicle, going off the roadway and crashing into foliage and the ground before coming to a final rest on the driver's side of the vehicle.

According to troopers, it's believed Mr. and Mrs. Saul were ejected out of the driver's side window. It's believed neither were wearing seat-belts at the time of the crash.

Mrs. Saul was transported to Western Maryland Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Troopers say Mr. Saul was also transported to Western Maryland Medical Center for treatment.

The crash is still under investigation.
