One Taken to Hospital in Second Alarm House Fire

It happened around 3:56 p.m. along 116 East Cork Street in Winchester. Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting smoke coming from a duplex.

WINCHESTER, Va. - A man was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon following a second-alarm house fire in Winchester. 

It happened around 3:56 p.m. along 116 East Cork Street. Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting smoke coming from a duplex. 

A search and rescue team responded to the scene, and were able to find the 36-year-old man inside the home. He was transported to Winchester Medical Center. 

In addition to Valley Medical transport, Greenwood, Millwood, Gainsboro and Stephens City responded. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Winchester Fire & Rescue Department's Fire Marshals and the Winchester Police Department.
