Pilot Survives Crash Landing in Chambersburg

Officials report the pilot reached air-traffic controller for help, saying he was having an emergency due to engine failure. The plane went down in a field near Shatzer Road, close to the airport.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A small single engine plane crash landed in a field Tuesday afternoon near the Franklin County Regional Airport.

Officials report the pilot called air-traffic controllers for help around 4:30 p.m., saying he was having an emergency due to engine failure.

The tiny plane went down in a field near Shatzer Road, close to the airport.

The pilot, who is from Maine and was flying in his own plane, told WHAG both he and his plane are alright thanks to his years of training.

Authorities say the FAA will need to inspect the plane before it is able to be flown again.
