Police Arrest Man for Assaulting with a Sword

Officers with Frederick Police Department arrested Shan Edward Oney, 32, of Frederick for assaulting a victim with a sword.
FREDERICK, Md. - Officers with Frederick Police Department responded to the 500 block of Carrollton Drive on Friday for an assault.

During the investigatioon, the suspect was arguing with the victim. During the argument, the suspect went back to his house to grab a sword and later returned to the victim's house with it.

The suspect swung the sword at the victim in the chest. Fortunately, the victim was able to block the sword and suffered injuries on his hand.

The suspect has been identified as Shan Edward Oney, 32, of Frederick. Oney was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.

Oney has been charged with one count of first degree assault, one count of second degree assault, one count of reckless endangerment, and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon.

The victim was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital to be treated and was later released. It is being handled as an isolated incident, according to the press release.
