BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. - Officers with the Martinsburg Police Department are investigating an attempted burglary at a local florist shop over the weekend.

It happened in the early morning hours on Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Depot Florist on 532 W. King Street in Martinsburg.

Officers say they received a complaint from the owner, who noticed a broken window at the business. Officers responded to the scene around 7:40 a.m. to meet with the owner, Ms. P. Wagoner.

According to police, the suspect had broken a window to gain entry inside the shop. It also appeared that the suspect had cut themselves upon entry, as there was blood noted at the crime scene.

Officers say the cash register drawer was found on the counter, as if pulled out from the register. Wagoner told police there was no money left in the register overnight, therefore no cash was missing. Blood was also found around this area.
