Police: Mother Sold Teen Daughter for Sex

Police in Winchester are releasing more information about a case involving a mother who allegedly sold her daughter for sex.
WINCHESTER, Va. – Police in Winchester are releasing more information about a case involving a mother who allegedly sold her daughter for sex.

The victim is just 13-years-old. Police have yet to charge the mother, but 31-year-old Jose Hernandez-Hernandez is facing sex-related charges.

“Jose Hernandez-Hernandez has been charged with carnal knowledge and indecent liberties for having sex with a 13-year-old girl,” said Winchester Police Public Information Officer Lauren Cummings.

Hernandez-Hernandez was arrested after police say sexual photos of him and victim were found on the girl’s cell phone.

A neighbor said he witnessed inappropriate contact between the two.

“I didn’t think anything was going on at first,” said Carl Clayton. “But, when I come out of the house and they come out of the house, I seen [the victim] holding hands and kissing the man.”

According to search warrants filed in Winchester Circuit Court, the victim told police that the mother knew about the sexual relationship and collected $600 a month from Hernandez-Hernandez so he could be with the teenager.

“We are still very early in this investigation. We are following any leads that we receive,” said Cummings.

Police are continuing to look into the crime and have not ruled out filing additional charges, including sex trafficking.

“Based on the investigation, there is a possibility that child sex trafficking charges could come,” Cummings said.

The mother has not been charged because police said they are still gathering evidence. Police are reviewing the suspect’s bank records for any proof of financial transactions between him and the victim’s mother.
