Police Search for Two in Cumberland Stabbing

Police say on Saturday, June 7, 2014 around 4:44 a.m. they responded to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for reports of a patient being treated for a stab wound to the abdomen.
ALLEGANY COUNTY, Md. - Officers with the Cumberland Police Department are searching for two people in connection to a reported stabbing that happened over the weekend. 

Police say on Saturday, June 7, 2014 around 4:44 a.m. they responded to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for reports of a patient being treated for a stab wound to the abdomen. Officers say they learned the 29-year-old victim was taken to the emergency room by a private vehicle. 

The victim told investigators he was assaulted while trying to break up an argument/fight between a man and a woman at Jane Frazier Village, in the area of building number one. 

Police say the victim could not provide a description of the individuals involved in the fight other than they were a black male and white female with dark hair. The person who transported the victim to the hospital also could not provide detailed information about the assault. 

Numerous people in the area were interviewed, but no one observed the incident, police say. 

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Cumberland Police at 301-777-1600, or the C3I Unit at 301-777-0326. If callers wish to remain anonymous, they can call the Allegany/Mineral County Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300. Callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to an arrest in this case, police say.
