CHAMBERSBURG, PA - Some of these anglers may be "pros" on the water but for Matthew Bishop, a newbie, he's just excited to be spending his morning with his own pro his dad.

"We've been doing this for three years," says Bishop.

David Bishop grew up fishing. It's a hobby he wanted to share with his son. The woke up early to test their skills in the annual Chambersburg Lions Club Annual Trout Derby.

"You don't have to be a great fisher to fish in it," says John Nogle, president of Noontime Lions Club. "You can have very little skill as long as you have a lot of luck."

More than a thousand anglers from around the country came out for the event which came with some cash prizes. Those who caught fish with special tags had a chance to win up to $2,000.

Matthew was one of those lucky winners, but his dad hopes what his son takes away from the event is not the money but enjoying who you spend your time with.

"I like teaching him about the outdoors, and there are things besides Nintendo and Playstation and in the spring it's a way to get him away from the TV and enjoy being outside," said David Bishop.
