Rustoleum Corporation Opens Its Doors to Berkeley County

"It's always good news when a building we've had that has been empty is filled with new employees and new products, and new activity."

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Known for their paints, varnishes and many other home and industry products; Rustoleum Corporation is opening a new distribution operation in The Shockey Commerce Center in Berkeley County.

"Rustoleum for a number of months has been seeking some additional space for their expanding distribution operations,” said Executive Director of Berkeley County Development Authority Stephen Johnson. “We've been working with them to try to help solve that. They found a solution that worked well for them here in Berkeley County at The Shockey Commerce Center.”

The Shockey Company, which acquired the former General Motors parts distribution building, will lease about 630,000 square feet of space and employ nearly 100 workers in the facility.

While they're still in the process of moving, county officials said this plant adds another marquee company to this growing economic base.

"It's always good news to get a new company to come to Martinsburg. It is always good news when we're able to increase the employment here. It's always good news when a building we've had that has been empty is filled with new employees and new products and new activity," said Christian.

Wade Johnson of The Shockey Company believes this new addition to their family of tenants is a great way to start the New Year.

"We're very excited to be partnering with the folks at Rustoleum. Not only will it be a good deal for Shockey's, but it's also going to be a good deal for the community and the whole state of West Virginia," said Johnson.
