"They have a lot of hands-on activities, and they're focusing on the whole health piece," says Ginny Simoneu, Children's Festival committee member.
The festival had about 65 vendors, an event aimed for children ages two to eight.
The great part is the children get involved by volunteering.
"You just get to talk to the kids and do all this fun stuff, it's really fun," says Katie Aleshire, nine-year old volunteer.
"Usually you get to help people if they need help," says Tori Perez, nine-year old volunteer.
"It's fun to do and I like volunteering and the different areaas is fun too like looking to see what they've done," says Johnny Berkey, festival performer and volunteer.
One of the new, featured booths this year was the Teddy Bear Clinic, a way for the little ones to learn what it is like when they visit a doctor.
"It's just to help kids that might uncomfortable coming to the hospital get to know who we are, what we do,so if they ever do have to come which is scary, they have a better understanding of what to expect," says Martha Gurzick, clinical nurse specialist of Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Children were learning through play by bringing their teddy bears for a check-up.
Gurzick adds, "We have an x-ray station where our radiolology department actually made an x-ray machine, so they can x-ray the teddy bears. Our phlebotomy department, they are actually able to draw fake blood from the teddy bears."
"When I look out and see the number of children and families enjoying all the free activities, and what's really great is the children are learning as they do it, and parents are getting the message that children learn through play," says Patty Morrison, chairwoman of 25th Annual Children's Festival.
It is an educational experience where parents can pull their children away from the textbooks for a little hands-on fun.
The festival was a free event for young children and their families. If you are interested in becoming a vendor for next year's festival, click here.
