Three People Win Big in West Virginia's Powerball

For the first time ever, West Virginia lottery officials say the state produced three match-5 winners in the same Powerball drawing.
WEST VIRGINIA - For the first time ever, West Virginia lottery officials say the state produced three match-5 winners in the same Powerball drawing.

Officials say West Virginia had three separate players match-5 numbers in last Saturday's Powerball drawing, which is the most ever for the state in a single Powerball draw.

Two of the $1 million winners have made contact with the Lottery and will be in Charleston to claim their prizes Monday. The winners bought their tickets in Crab Orchard and Ripley.

West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave will be introducing the two new millionaires Monday in a press conference at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the West Virginia Lottery Headquarters in Charleston.

Lottery officials say West Virginia has been on an amazing lucky streak in terms of producing $1 million or more winners from Multi-State Lottery games this year.

They say counting this weekend's three winners, and a still unclaimed $1 million Powerball ticket that was sold for the February 12th drawing in Wheeling, W.Va., the state had 10 tickets from the MUSL games of Powerball and Mega Millions sold and/or claimed this year.
