Thurmont Man Arrested in Assault

A Thurmont man is behind bars after police say he attacked a woman Sunday night, sending her to the hospital.
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - A Thurmont man is behind bars after police say he attacked a woman, sending her to the hospital. 

The incident happened on Sunday, June 8, 2014 around 11 p.m. along the first block of Colliery Drive. 

Officers with the Thurmont Police Department say they found a woman injured from the assault by an apparent male acquaintance. They say the man left the home prior to their arrival. 

The woman sustained bruising and a fracture from the assault, police say. She was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

The suspect was later located at his house, and identified as Jeffrey A. Biggus, 51, of Thurmont. He was taken into custody and charged with first and second-degree assault. 

Police say Biggus is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on $80,000 bond.
