Tractor Trailer Catches Fire on I-68 in Cumberland

Traffic was backed up for hours as crews tried to clean up the scene.

CUMBERLAND, Md. There were major delays on I-68 in Cumberland after a tractor trailer carrying cantaloupes caught fire at around 4 p.m. Saturday.

The truck was engulfed in flames near exit 42  (the Johnston Street and Industrial Boulevard exits.)

Authorities say the tractor trailer's brakes caused the fire, and the blaze then caused the tires to explode.

No one was injured, but both eastbound lanes of the Interstate were closed for hours.
