Traditional Hindu Prayer Offers Peace, Fellowship at Public Meeting

Thursday evening a traditional Hindu prayer opened the Board of Aldermen public hearing to symbolize peace, fellowship and equality.
Frederick, MD - Hinduism has long been a religion based on peace, fellowship and equality, and that was the message of a guest speaker at Thursday evening's Board of Aldermen public hearing in Frederick.

Rajan Zed, President of the Universal Society of Hinduism and a recipient of numerous awards for religious diplomacy, opened the meeting with traditional Hindu prayers.

Zed recited from several ancient Hindu scriptures and even provided English translation after each phrase.

His message urged the Aldermen of Frederick to keep the public's welfare in mind during their open bi-monthly meetings.

This was the first time in the Board of Aldermen's 197 year history that they have opened a meeting with a Hindu prayer.
