Traffic Back to Normal After Tractor Trailer Rollover on 81

The accident happened around 3 p.m. on Interstate-81 southbound. Troopers said a tractor trailer driven by Jesus Pichs, of Miami, Florida was traveling along the southbound lanes when the vehicle's left front tire failed.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - Maryland State Police are investigating a tractor trailer rollover that happened Wednesday afternoon near the Maugans Avenue Exit. 

The accident happened just after 3 p.m. on Interstate-81 southbound. Troopers said a tractor trailer driven by Jesus Pichs, of Miami, Florida was traveling along the southbound lanes when the vehicle's left front tire failed. 

State police said Pichs lost control of the vehicle at mile marker 9 and traveled into the median of Interstate-81, and then overturned, spilling all its contents, which appeared to be packages. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. 

The accident affected both I-81 north and southbound Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses report traffic along the northbound lanes to stretch as far as the West Virginia state line.  Maryland State Police says traffic was back up and running smoothly as of 7:45 p.m.
 

Nobody was injured.
