FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - Two Virginia residents are facing charges after deputies say they were found with heroin inside their vehicle along Interstate-70 in Maryland.

On Tuesday, Feb. 18 around 2:34 p.m., members of the P.A.C.E. Unit say they pulled the vehicle over along I-70, just west of Route 180. A Frederick County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit responded, and a search of the car was conducted.

During the search, deputies discovered heroin and drug paraphernalia inside.

The driver, Adam Ritenour, 29, of Edinburg, Va., was arrested and charged with possession of heroin. It was later determined Ritenour had two active warrants for his arrest in Virginia and Howard County, Maryland.

The passenger, Kristie Ellison, 31, of Woodstock, Va., was issued a criminal citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and released.

Ritenour is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on a $6,000 bond.
