Two Face Additional Charges in Infant's Death

WHAG has confirmed Joseph Christy and Summer McDaniel have been additionally charged with child neglect resulting in death, concealment of a human body, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
HARDY COUNTY, W.Va. - More details have surfaced about a 26-day-old infant found dead in Hardy County earlier this month. 

WHAG has confirmed Joseph Christy and Summer McDaniel have been additionally charged with child neglect resulting in death, concealment of a human body, and conspiracy to commit a felony. 

The incident began when authorities said Christy and McDaniel were involved in a police chase with the Morgantown Police Department along Interstate-79. Both were arrested and charged with child neglect for having four children in the vehicle during the pursuit.

During interviews, police said Christy and McDaniel admitted to burying an infant in the George Washington National Forest. Officials said the infant's body was found later that night, just a mile from the park entrance. 

Troopers said the four other children are in the custody of the state. The case remains ongoing.
