Two Firefighters, Employee Injured in Large Trailer Fire

The blaze happened around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 along the 1000 block of Baugh Drive.
WARREN COUNTY, Va. - Officials with Warren County Fire and Rescue say two firefighters and an employee of Sysco were injured in Tuesday's large trailer fire in Front Royal.

The blaze happened around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 along the 1000 block of Baugh Drive.

Upon arrival, units found a refrigerated trailer at the loading dock fully engulfed in flames. Crews say they discovered the 20,000 square foot loading area filled with smoke, with minor fire extension to the building.

Additional units were called in Tuesday for manpower and smoke removal equipment. Fire officials say a yard tractor was used to pull the trailer away from the building, where they were able to fully extinguish the fire.

Officials say one firefighter suffered contusions to the leg, another firefighter suffered a contusion and bruising to the hand, and an employee of Sysco suffered smoke inhalation. All three were treated on scene, and were also taken to Warren Memorial Hospital where they were treated then released.

Fire officials say the trailer is a total loss, and damage to the building was limited due to the efforts of loading dock employees who used multiple fire extinguishers at the rear of the opening in the loading dock where the trailer was parked.

The fire is being investigated by the Warren County Fire Marshal's Office, and deemed accidental. While damage estimates continue, the Fire Chief says damages could run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
