WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - Washington County fire and rescue crews battled a fire at a local commercial building Wednesday afternoon.

The incident was called in around 1:46 p.m. at the Hagerstown Ford dealership along 1714 Massey Blvd. The fire comes just days after the facility held its' ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, July 10 to celebrate their newly renovated facilities.

WHAG has confirmed a Ford vehicle was on fire inside the back of the facility. Witnesses on scene could see heavy smoke.

One person reportedly sustained minor burns and was transported to a nearby hospital. The building was temporarily evacuated, and fire officials said some areas were closed off due to hazardous gases.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Fire departments with Halfway, Hagerstown and Williamsport responded.

The Hagerstown Ford opened its doors to the public last week after wrapping up a three year project.
